I have been playing guitar around two years at this point, and have prioritized learning to solo above all else. I wish I would have gotten the Shred Guitar book/CD a year ago because it has such great guitar tracks, solo ideas, and theory. Not only are the songs great, but the tone of the guitar is what I like - kind of like Vitto Bratta (guitarist for White Lion), as opposed to the Metallica sound. But with this book, you will learn to play any type of fast song, and your technique will be very efficient. I have other book/CD sets on speed, but this one outdoes them. I especially like the way it breaks down and gives ideas on soloing in various modes such as Phrygian and Lydian. A lot of hard work went into this making this book/CD!

Shred Guitar so far is the best book for learning to do the riffs you always wanted to do. It actually makes sense and the leads you learn are very cool......

This is a horrible book. It puts the advanced, over the top, speed demon licks right in the first few pages with no explanation. Then halfway through the book doeas a less then half-handed job of explaining music theory. DO NOT BUY!! I feel I've gotten a bit worse from this book. It will also extremely discourage those of you just getting started. DO NOT BUY.
