There are some great players who can't teach, and some good teachers who don't play inspiring stuff. Paul Gilbert is both a fine musician and he explains things well.

I had a chance to perform with him briefly a long time ago. I found he is a friendly guy and supportive player too. He isn't afraid to act silly and have some fun. Music doesn't have to be stuffy and Paul definitely doesn't take himself too seriously.

His educational videos are seriously good though. I recommend them to all modern students.

Paul Gilbert is one the greatest guitarist of all time. His picking technique and so clean and his tone is perfect. This DVD is one of the FEW guitar DVDs out there that actually HELPS you become a better guitarist. He teaches what you need to know, not his own stuff. Pauls a great teacher and if this doesnt help you become faster, I don't know what will.

I just recently got into Paul Gilberts work, and was upset that these were only on VHS-then about a week later, they got this dvd in stock, so I had perfect timing.The instruction is clear enough to follow at most times without even having to look at the screen,which is a plus.The lessons themselves are great in the fact that they not only get you moving faster, but give you new ways to think about typical movements, like thee-note-per-string runs.And Gilbert is entetrtaining.
