I have read several books and this video does not mention rudiments, or that it is most important to focus on the snare first. Instead this book encourages students to jump right into playing the whole kit, which every other piece of literature says not to do. Furthermore, it felt like this thing was shot in one take. If you want to see some hair metal guy from the 80's try to tell you how easy drumming can be, then buy this. Otherwise, I would spend your money on some other video that covers rudiments by a real drum teacher.

The video portion is unbelievably short. It states "Steps 1 and 2 combined," but it's still under a half an hour. Not a terrible price for a DVD, instructional book, and a CD. The best feature is the numerous examples in the book. Just the extreme basics are covered in the video such as setting up your set and very basic beats and technique. Good for an absolute beginner, otherwise look elsewhere.

This really is a great video if you are intrested in learning how to play beats right away! i was playing my drums in like 3 hours. Trust me, this is a GREAT video. it's the best one i've ever watched.

Great learning tool, I got it basically when I first got my drumset because I stunk. It taught me some basic beats, I mean nobody is gonna be Neil Peart In one day. Great beginning DVD.
