Great way to learn about playing bass

In this video you get to see inside the world of Nathan East. He talks a little about practicing, playing atitude, learning about different styles of music, and equiptment. There are interviews with people Nathan has worked with like Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Billy Preston, Larry Carlton, and the other members of Fourplay. There is a Q and A about "What makes a great bass player". In my opinion, this video is a great way to learn about the world of playing bass. There is probably more focus on the fretboard in Nathan's other video than this one. This is still a good buy if you want to get a feel for what it takes.

If you were looking for an instructional DVD this does not even come close. Too much talk and absolutely no instructional value. This DVD should be in the documentary category

Wow, NATHAN EAST! This is what I have been dreaming of, the inside story from the guy on the inside -- NATHAN EAST plus Clapton, Collins and Quincy. this is like a PHD on the music business all in one package. I love it! The best part was the interviews with the famous musicians talking about the role the bass plays in their music and what they look for in a Bass Player--almost like a rehersal for a job interview! The Bass solo of America at the end was inspiring :)
