Great exercises

This is not a beginning video, but after you are running basic major/minor scales in all positions and pick up a little theory this is great, probably the best video I've seen yet. After doing John's exercises I found it much easier to play through tunes that use jazz chord replacements and really contribute countermelody lines. Wish they had this available on DVD since I wore my VCR out using this tape daily (cueing up the exercises will do it).

The video comes with a handbook so you can easily follow what JM is teaching. I wouldn't recommend this vid for beginners, though, it would benefit players with 3-6 years under their belt. Most of the video is very boring, but extremely useful. Don't get this video unless you're willing to challenge yourself.

Not the best dvd ever, but still very good. JM shows many useful and helpful things and it is very much worth getting it. You won't be disappointed if you are a fan of his work.
