I love this DVD/Chart Booklet. Ed Friedland is excellent. I bought a couple of books with CDs, but this method got me goin'. I'm sure after finishing Ed's method I will be able to go back to the other methods and get something out of them too. The hardest thing is gettin' the initial thump with the thumb. Mr. Friedland got me goin' on that technique. Friedland is also funny in a dry jazz musician way!

This is an amazing product that can teach you to play slap no matter how good you are. There is a video that teaches the slap, pop, tap, and more. Then it tells you how to put it together. There are cool little riffs you play along with him at the end of each lesson. There is tab and the notes written out for you to read when playing.

I play several styles, but slap bass was not my best. Did some research and I picked this one; great choice. Well organized, progressive challenge, with good views of both hands, and normal and slow play of each groove.

Within a month of practicing all the exercises that were presented by Ed Friedland in this slap bass instructional DVD, I could actually get a grasp on the concepts and control on how a bassist should control all the aspects that go into slap playing! I thought it was impossible to learn how to do this, and I finally found a video that has such a layman approach to such a complex technique. A must have for any bassist with a serious attitude to learn this style!

"Slap Bass The Ultimate Guide" is just that, the ultimate. Ed Friedland goes over the basics then demonstrates all of the examples slow then fast. This DVD has really opened up my funk lines.
