I was overly skeptical when I ordered this DVD. My main reason for hesitation was the very low price. I own tons of bass books and DVDs and this is by far the easiest method to follow. Every topic is clearly described, then you are given a chance to play along at a tempo. Everything on this DVD course is essential for playing bass guitar. Like the title says, it is very easy, yet it builds up at an easy-to-follow pace to an intermediate/advanced level of bass guitar theory. For example, you first learn to how to read bass guitar music, then learn scales and intervals, melody then harmony, up to triads (chords). The bonus section could be a DVD in itself with interactive exercises for improving ear training and sight reading techniques. I could not imagine going back to playing bass without an understanding of music theory. The thought of learning theory used to bore me to tears. This DVD alone made it fun, interesting, and most important, EASY! I have since ordered every bass title MJS offers and have yet to be disappointed.

I have played bass for many years but do not read music. I thought this would give some real world knowledge about how to harmonize (within a song). All it really is, is a very basic (beginner)introduction to reading music (for bass) with a little info. on general harmony (but not how to apply it). At the price, its hard to complain but it didn't do what I thought or wanted...
