This is an excellent investment to improve your bass playing skills. Though I play the guitar I have, or I should say had, no experience with the bass. I picked up this book and discovered that the preludes, suites, and partitas were very challenging and employed advanced techniques and/or blazing speed. However don't be discouraged. I kept at it and after just three months of dedicated practice you wouldn't even be able to tell that I was a beginner. Though this book/cd only has ten pieces, it varies in modes (C, G, E major/ D, B, G minor). A standard four string/22 fret bass would be able to play all of the songs with no problem except one, which requires 24 frets but has a loco option (play as written instead of an octave above).

It's a good book. It'd be nice if the recordings had some other instruments in the background. Overall I'd give it a 9. Great value for the price.
