My brother, who's a guitar teacher through a place that his own guitar teacher works at, starts EVERY student off on Mel Bay's Modern Guitar Method Grade 1 and they usually go up to Grade 2 and then start using other books. Anyway, I have used Grade 1 myself (before the Expanded Edition was available) and it's a great educational book. For those of you who are teaching yourself, you can benefit off of these books as well. Without a doubt, these books are great and, in this five-pack, the price is great as well!

Be advised there are no cd's with these; just books. About one in five practice songs have words. Words would help a little. Otherwise, ok.
