I've been teaching myself harp for a while, and I've always been attraced to that blues sound. So I went out and got some Lee Oskars and The Idiots Guide to Harmonica. That book doesnt work for me. It gives you songs and modes which is good for some people. But as far as I'm concered Harmonica should be about "feeling the music", not playing notes in a book. Gindick shows you licks scales and shows you how to improvise with the book. Not to mention it has a story line to it so it's not like reading a textbook. Before I was even half way through the book I was on stage jamming with a band. This truely is the book for the "leave me alone I'm jamming" harp player. I recommend it for everyone.

I picked this up a few months back, after fumbling around trying to learn without aides. Gindick has put together an easy to follow guide that is great for beginners or hobbyists. The accompanying CD is the real jewel. (The book was a little too 'cartoonish' for most adults) I have been working with this alone and have progressed to the point I have performed a couple of times with local and regional bands, and have been asked to accompany others in the future. I am really sold on it.

Jon Gindick is the ultimate Harmonica instructor. I have some of his other products. This package (book and CD) is extremely user friendly. I expect that beginners and intermediate players alike, will appreciate Gindick's easy goin' approach to teaching. The book and/or CD may be used as a stand-alone guide. Thumbs way up!!
