As I sit here to write this review, I have to say that my mouth is on the floor by the previous review. It could have only been written by a competitor of Rock House. This DVD is a great help to anybody looking to learn about modes and their application. The DVD is essential to any studying guitarist of any musical genre. It covers scales, modes, 2, 3 and 4 part chords, theory, arpeggios and then there is even backing tracks to apply the modes and lessons over to get you going in a musical context. John McCarthy gives solid instruction to guide you through the concept and unlocks the mystery of the modes. You will not only need your guitar but also a #2 Pencil. Be prepared to seriously learn the rudiments of the modes. I also being a member of the Rock House member community have heard nothing but the same from my fellow members all over the world! Great job Rock House!! Cant wait to see what's next!! Oh, and my students love it too!!!!

Im not new at guitar however this production was way to fast for anyone to keep up with! Not only did he not teach any of the scales but he just was showing off the whole dvd how he could can play them and NOT TEACHING at all!! Save your money and advil.
